Strawberry picking

U-pick quickly devolved into u-eat. We picked $2.50 worth of strawberries, probably ate about $50 worth. It was the end of the season, and the only strawberries left were small but very sweet. Duris Farm in Kent, with Mount Rainier as a backdrop.

Joseph, lately

Adventures in the life of Joseph: Alki Beach. Fun to throw rocks into the water, but the waves were a bit too loud and scary up close. Volunteer Park. Kind of a trek to get there from Queen Anne, but always so worth it. Plus the kids playroom inside the Asian Art Museum is stocked with new animal puppets! Planning to take full advantage of our backyard this summer. The kids can tear it up and I don't worry about the mess. Bouncy balls at co-op. Remember when school was this fun? White-water rafting at REI. And backing it up... How toddlers play "together." A little chickadee stopped to say hello as we were headed to preschool one morning. A fun new toy that didn't cost me anything. Sometimes that's the best kind.

Preschool pageant

The coop preschool pageant was Friday night. I wasn't sure if we were going to make it -- 6:30 p.m.?! -- but amazingly, Joseph had a nap and a poop so we were good to go. The twos class preformed two songs, "Wiggy Wiggy Wiggles" and "Turn Around." When the curtains parted, the first thing I saw is that little belly I love. Joseph looks terrified -- I would be too! But look, he got on stage, didn't cry and even shook his egg shakers. For the last number, "I'm in the Mood," the entire school got on stage. Joseph spotted me in the audience, which gave him a boost of confidence, and strutted to the front of the stage and did an impromptu little dance. So proud of you!
