  • North Olympic National Park

Most people go on trips to have adventures. If I’m being completely honest with myself, I go on trips to take pictures of adventures. It’s nice to get out of our usual grind and see some different things with fresh eyes. I wrote about our trip to the north Olympic National Park (Sequim, Lake Crescent…

  • Dinosaur Discovery at Woodland Park Zoo

Dinosaur robots at the zoo! This super cool exhibit just opened and runs through Labor Day. The guy who designed the dinos also worked on the “Jurassic Park” movie. Here’s my story for ParentMap. After visiting the dinosaurs, we made the big loop around to see the rest of the animals, something we haven’t done…

Joseph (and I) worked so hard to learn the Harry Potter theme song, lots of shifts and sharps and flats. It’s by far the trickiest piece he’s tackled, but he did it!

  • Joy to the walls

I wrote the cover story for this week’s Seattle Times At Home section about a SERIOUSLY talented self-taught muralist. You can’t look at her work and not feel happy! She also has a compelling story as the mom of a special needs kid. Here’s a link.

  • Happy birthday!

Double digits!! No idea how this happened, but Joseph turned 10.

  • Backyard gardening

The peas we planted germinated! It’s always a minor miracle to me when we manage to grow something.

  • Earth day activities for kids

So Joseph’s due date was April 22, and the name “GAIA GRYGIEL” was tossed around. Lucky for him, he popped out a boy and a few days late. Happy Earth Day! Here’s my story for TODAY Parents, 7 cool ways to commemorate Earth Day with kids in 2021!
